fun rehearsal dinner invitations

i recently shipped out an order of these to a bride who found me on the knot. yay for knotties!

erica's wedding colors are scarlet and gold...not a huge shock, considering she's a USC alumni :) she and her fiance, eric, had already checked out my portfolio on my site and decided on a fairly simple design. after viewing a photo of their gorgeous pocketfolder invitations, i knew exactly what to do. here's the finished product:

and then after we were done with this project, erica and eric decided that they wanted to have customized place cards for their reception. following an example set by another recently wed knottie, we worked together to come up with this design:
these will be done in three different colors - scarlet for beef, gold for chicken, and dark brown for vegetarian. and yes - that says "matt damon" at "table 13". as i was working on this, "ocean's 13" was coming out in a few days, and i guess i had eye candy on the brain. erica received a sample in each color, and she was a little tickled to imagine that matt, george & brad were all coming to their wedding ;)

we're official!

i received PPD's official business license in the mail at last! i do believe that means....we're in business! woo-hoo!
this past weekend found me scrambling to design and assemble valentine cards to display and sell at dot's cupcakes in pasadena. i got to talking with hiyo, the owner, and she suggested it on friday afternoon - based upon the fact that she already had FIFTY pre-orders for valentine's day cupcake pick-ups.
i managed to put together a total of 25 valentine cards, and on tuesday afternoon i took them over to dot's. i made up a quickie sign, picked up a red tablecloth, a couple of decorative place mats (i couldn't find a runner i liked), a french bulletin board, and some file sorters, and here's what it looked like:

and here are a few of the designs:

i must admit, i was quite proud of the variety i was able to come up with. :)
i went back today to clean up the display and see how we'd done....and found that i'd managed to sell 15 cards! i talked to hiyo for a few more minutes and she agreed to allow me to display other cards on a regular basis, like birthdays, Mother's/Father's Day, Easter, etc. sweet!

happy birthday, dear cousin

Rather than stuffing cash in an envelope (or worse, in my cousin's hot little hand), I created this card and put the bills in a baby envelope mounted inside the flap. Fun, fun, fun!

housewarming

Good friends of ours just bought a fabulous new house, and so we decided to give them a little gift to celebrate the big move. Who doesn't love to go shopping with a gift card??

wedding invitations, STAT!

A good friend of mine e-mailed me on Monday and said that her best friend was having a quickie wedding in Northern California.....on FEBRUARY 2.

[checking date]

Yup. Whirlwind, huh? Anyway, she introduced us via e-mail and we immediately started talking design, quantity, etc. Not surprisingly, she was really sweet and easygoing, so it wasn't long before we'd come up with a plan of action. She'd already seen some ideas she liked, so we were already halfway there!

And four days later, the finished product is on its way. It's a square pocketfold in chocolate brown, with a sash incorporating their wedding colors of red, pink and brown. Inside, the invitation text is printed on luxe cream paper and mounted on red cardstock atop the inside cover of the brown pocketfolder. A pink insert detailing the wedding dinner and hotel accommodations sits inside the pocket on the right side. The whole ensemble is placed inside a matching luxe cream square envelope. Here are a few photos:

And, because I'm a nerd, here's a shot of the box I shipped them out in:

I should write a song. "Invites In A Box"! [wrinkling nose] Sorry, that was bad.

a christmas gift

Here's a card I threw together this afternoon for my husband to give his Secret Santa gift at tonight's company party. It's pretty simple, but hopefully it will be noticed right along with the fabulous Spafinder gift card inside!

The little metal coin at the top says "Merry Christmas" with a little tree, and the metal plate gives the receiver the stern command "better not pout!" ;)

thank you, Miss Lime!

I was featured recently in a post on weddingbee.com by blogger Miss Lime. She's a wonderful friend of mine who's planning her own August 2007 wedding.

Based on her post, I've received quite a few inquiries about my services, and I'm hoping to be able to help all of these brides with their stationery/invitation needs! Everyone's colors sound absolutely gorgeous, and I can't wait to get started :)

So, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU MISS LIME!!
